Hi everyone!
You’re doing an amazing job keeping up with Korean every day!
Today, we’re going to learn another important pronunciation rule that will make your Korean sound much more natural.
⸻

🔍 What’s the Rule?
When one syllable ends in ㄹ (r/l) and the next syllable starts with ㄴ (n),
ㄴ changes to ㄹ, and you pronounce it as a double ㄹ sound [ll]!
This is called liquidization (유음화 / yuuumhwa).
⸻
📘 Examples
Korean Pronunciation Meaning
설날 (seol + nal) 설랄 [설랄] Lunar New Year
물놀이 (mul + nori) 물로리 [물로리] Playing in the water
불놀이 (bul + nori) 불로리 [불로리] Fireworks
일년 (il + nyeon) 일련 [일련] One year
⸻
🧠 Why is this helpful?
• It helps you understand native speakers better.
• You’ll pronounce words more fluently and naturally.
• You’ll avoid confusion while reading and speaking!
⸻
🗣 Practice Time!
• 설날 → [설랄]
• 물놀이 → [물로리]
• 불놀이 → [불로리]
• 일년 → [일련]
⸻
Great job today!
