Hello everyone!
You’ve been doing such a great job learning Korean step by step!
Today, we’ll cover another essential Korean pronunciation rule: Liaison (연음).

It’s one of the most common pronunciation changes, and once you understand it, Korean will sound much smoother to your ears!

🔍 What is Liaison?

Liaison happens when a final consonant (받침 / batchim) at the end of one syllable carries over to the next syllable if it starts with a vowel.

Think of it as the final consonant jumping to the next syllable to help pronunciation flow better!

📘 Examples of Liaison

Written Form Pronounced As Meaning
옷을 (ot + eul) [오슬] [o-seul] clothes (object form)
밥을 (bap + eul) [바블] [ba-beul] rice (object form)
꽃을 (kkot + eul) [꼬츨] [kko-cheul] flower (object form)
이름이 (ireum + i) [이르미] [i-reu-mi] name + subject particle

🎧 Try Pronouncing These!

Let’s practice slowly first, then at a natural speed:
• 옷을 → [오슬]
• 밥을 → [바블]
• 꽃을 → [꼬츨]
• 이름이 → [이르미]

Did you feel how the batchim flows into the next syllable?

💡 Why Liaison Matters
• Helps your speech sound smoother and more natural
• Makes listening comprehension easier when talking to native speakers
• It’s a basic but powerful tool in Korean pronunciation!

Great job making it to Day 19!
Keep practicing these pronunciation rules, and you’ll notice a huge improvement in both speaking and listening.
See you tomorrow for more Korean fun! Keep going—you’re doing amazing!
