thanks2korea 2025. 4. 6. 09:24

Hello, everyone!
You’re doing an amazing job learning Korean every day! Today, we’ll explore another cool pronunciation rule that helps you sound more natural when speaking Korean.

🔍 What’s the rule?

When a syllable ends with ㄴ (n) and the next syllable starts with ㄹ (r/l),
the ㄹ sound changes to ㄴ, and you pronounce it as a double ㄴ (nn) sound.

This is called “liquid nasalization” in Korean phonology.

📘 Examples

Korean Pronounced as Meaning
신라 (sin + la) 신나 [sin-na] Silla (ancient Korean kingdom)
전라 (jeon + la) 전나 [jeon-na] Jeolla (province name)
안락 (an + rak) 안낙 [an-nak] Comfort, peace
관련 (gwan + ryeon) 관년 [gwan-nyeon] Relation, connection

🧠 Why is this important?
• It helps you understand native speakers better.
• Your Korean sounds smoother and more natural.
• You’ll be able to read words aloud more confidently.

🗣 Practice Time!

Let’s say them together:
• 신라 → [신나]
• 전라 → [전나]
• 안락 → [안낙]
