Hello again, amazing learners! 😊
Today, we’re going to explore another super useful Korean pronunciation rule that will make your Korean sound even more natural and fluent.
🔍 Today’s Rule
When ㅎ (h) comes before ㅅ (s):
➡️ The ㅎ sound disappears,
➡️ And ㅅ becomes a stronger, clearer ㅆ (ss) sound.
So instead of pronouncing both letters, you’ll just pronounce ㅆ.
This is one of those small things that can make a big difference in your Korean pronunciation!
📘 Example Words
Word Hangul Pronunciation Meaning
좋아서 | 좋아서 | 조아써 (jo-a-sseo) | Because (I) like (it) |
괜찮습니다 | 괜찮습니다 | 괜찬씀니다 (gwaen-chan-sseum-ni-da) | It's okay |
못해서 | 못해서 | 모태써 (mo-tae-sseo) | Because (I) can’t |
As you can see, the ㅎ disappears and the ㅅ gets emphasized.
🗣 Pronunciation Practice
Say these words out loud and feel the change in sound:
- 좋아서 → 조아써 (jo-a-sseo)
- 괜찮습니다 → 괜찬씀니다 (gwaen-chan-sseum-ni-da)

Keep practicing, and you’ll get the hang of it!
See you tomorrow with more Korean fun! 🌟💪
